Keeping Your Ascaso Duo Sparkling Clean

Your Ascaso Duo is a precision instrument that deserves proper care. Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity. Always read the manual cover to cover.  All products are different but generally conform to these rules as well.  Here’s a step-by-step guide to keep your Duo in top condition:

Daily Cleaning:

  1. Empty the Drip Tray: Remove any coffee grounds or water that has accumulated in the drip tray.
  2. Wipe Down the Machine: Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the machine, including the group head, portafilter handle, and steam wand.
  3. Clean the Portafilter and Basket: Rinse the portafilter and filter basket with hot water to remove any coffee residue.

Weekly Cleaning:

  1. Descale the Machine: Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to descale the boiler and water pipes.
  2. Clean the Group Head:
    • Remove the group head.
    • Use a group head cleaning brush to remove any coffee grounds or residue.
    • Soak the group head in a cleaning solution for 10-15 minutes.
    • Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
  3. Clean the Steam Wand:
    • Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue.
    • Purge the steam wand to remove any remaining milk.
    • Use a cleaning needle to clear any clogs in the tip of the steam wand.

Monthly Cleaning:

  1. Deep Clean the Drip Tray: Remove the drip tray and wash it with warm, soapy water.
  2. Clean the Water Tank: Wash the water tank with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  3. Inspect the O-Rings: Check the o-rings on the group head and portafilter for wear and tear. Replace any damaged o-rings.

Additional Tips:

  • Use Filtered Water: Filtered water helps to prevent mineral buildup in your machine.
  • Avoid Overheating the Boiler: Excessive heat can damage the boiler and other components.
  • Store Your Machine Properly: When not in use, store your machine in a dry, cool place.

By following these simple cleaning steps, you can ensure that your Ascaso Duo continues to produce delicious espresso for years to come.
